It is such a joy to see your childhood friends grow up and get to share in their joy as they celebrate the milestones of their own family. Family Pictures are such a treasure and an added bonus to me if I know the family well. These two friends are in my small group at church and I’ve know Adam since I moved to Oklahoma in 4th grade! Watching these two celebrate marriage and now love on the most precious little boy is so fun! Their little guy will be turning two in a few weeks and he is all boy! Rambunctious and rowdy with a good dose of love for his Mom and Dad.
Family Pictures with a two year old is the only way to go in my book. And my book has over 10 years worth of experience to professionally say that! Trying to get a two year old to do anything is a challenge but when Mom and Dad step away you can forget it. One of my best tips for two year old pictures is to just schedule family pictures. If they see Mom and Dad are cool with it they will be too. After all I’m a stranger with a big black camera all up in their face!
I always tell parents the best thing you can do is play. We will get the posed shot for Grandma but we will also get the joy of loving your family. Emotion trumps posed smiles, hands down every time! Trust me as a Mom. I don’t see my own flaws nearly as much when I see a picture of me playing with my kids and they have the. best. laughing smiles. That is a memory not just a picture!
If you haven’t scheduled your family pictures yet I have a few spots left in October. November is hit or miss with weather, daylight savings, and holidays so make sure to get something schedule with a photographer even if it’s not me soon. No one regrets family pictures! It’s always worth the hassle…although I try really hard to make it fun!
